A Hot New Erotic Read!
Author Spotlight: The Taming of Jenesa
1. What do you feel will most likely capture your reader’s attention regarding your book?
Initially it’s the balls-to-the-wall-fuck the censors, graphic descriptions and dialogue. After that it’s the solid prose and storyline. So you read this and you’re like, “Wow, there’s actually an awesome story behind all the crazy wild women and insane sex!”
2. What other books would you compare to your own story?
Books? None that I can think of and I’ve read a lot! And don’t even bring up that pedestrian pussy-shit Fifty Shades! That story (and movie) is (are) so sexually lame it (they) couldn’t make a nun blush, never mind the average person and sure as Hell never mind a disciple of super kink, super deviant, super sophisticated sex! Movies maybe: Hostel, Last House on the Left, Basic Instinct, Bully, those are in the same sexual realm as my novel, The Taming of Jenesa.
3. What inspired the title of your latest book?
It’s a dichotomy to the storyline. Without giving too much of the plot away, it’s really about the perception some of the characters have about Jenesa versus the reality. Read the book, you’ll see.
4. Taken as a whole, what moral, social, or political questions does your story discuss?
Primarily the underlying message is several fold: That evil can hide in plain sight, that organizations (religion, neighbors and society as a whole) love to climb into bed with people and dictate the action and that no matter how good someone’s life may look on the outside, what is truly going on may be completely different.
5. Artistically or literarily, were there any challenges creating your story’s dynamics?
The basic creation of the plot, the scenes and character dimension went fairly well, the story just seemed to write itself and flowed nicely. It was the nuts and bolts that gave me issues. Making sure the formatting of the paragraphs and the page spacing was consistent throughout was a nightmare (I was not an expert in Word, I am now!), the spelling (I can’t spell worth a damn) and the like was a huge chore to keep in check. Fortunately Microsoft Word took care of a lot of the foundational work after I figured out how to make it do what I wanted and then my primary, Lynn did a fantastic job of playing editor!
6. How do you feel the cover highlights your story?
Not a clue, haven’t seen it yet! I’m having Lot’s Cave handle the creation of the book cover. I’m sure they’ll do it supreme justice!
7. Share with us an interesting fact or moment in your book.
Interesting fact: The book took months to write and came in at over 81,000 words. There was no way I was going to lose that file to a computer crash! The manuscript was backed up on two external hard drives plus a flash drive and on top of that I e-mailed updated copies of the book to myself after every writing session.
8. What is your favorite part or scene in your book?
The Rape of the Liquid Light scene. First of all it comes out of nowhere, it’s like, “What the Hell is this all of the sudden?” Secondly there are so many elements crammed into one scene, like sensual sex and then forced sex and then the sudden realization that the girl is not alone, the metamorphosis the girl goes through and then the revelation of where she actually is. It’s a ton of action and suspense jammed into one scene.
9. What appeals to you most about writing for this genre?
Sex is a huge part of me and Lynn’s life and although quite a few people know about the specifics of our sex life, the fact that we are Polyamorous, because of the current dictums of society we are forced to keep that aspect of our life hidden from some people. By writing these stories, it’s like I’m able to go public with our life, like we don’t have to hide part of it anymore. Of course the ironic part about that is that I have to hide the fact that I write erotica! Society is getting more and more open but we still have a long way to go.
